Youzhi Xu was born in Jiangxi, China. He did his Bachelor studies at East China University of Technology. In 2015, he obtained his Master degree in "Organic Chemistry" at the International Phosphorus Laboratory of Zhengzhou University under the supervision of Prof. Francois Mathey and Prof. Zheng Duan. In early 2016 he joined the Delius group working on two subprojects that are part of the Collaborative Research Centre SFB953: Synthetic Carbon Allotropes. Outside the lab, he enjoys badminton, travelling and cooking.
