Deepsing Syangtan was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Bates College, USA. He is interested in both biological chemistry and organic chemistry. In the summer of 2016, he worked with Dr. Paula Schlax at Bates College on the study of gene regulations in Borrelia burgdorferi, a causative agent of Lyme disease. In the summer of 2017, he worked in the lab of Dr. Frank Gherardini at Rocky Mountain Laboratory examining the roles of ribonucleases in RNA decay in B. burgdorferi. He joined the Delius group in June 2017 as a DAAD RISE intern to work on the synthesis of functionalized cycloparaphenylenes. Beside chemistry, he loves doodling, dancing, and watching movies.
