Juanita was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). For her bachelor’s thesis she joined the group of Prof. Hintermann, where she worked in the field of catalytic organic synthesis. After a master in organic and biological chemistry, her master’s thesis with Prof. Sattler (TUM) and Prof. Plettenburg (Leibniz University Hannover) was concerned with the development of novel PEX5 inhibitors. Outside the lab she enjoys playing the guitar and the trombone, going to concerts and trying international food.
Bachelor Thesis
Transition metal-catalyzed C–H addition to π acceptors under conditions of homogeneous thermal catalysis (HOT-CAT)
Master Thesis
Synthesis of novel PEX5 inhibitors using multicomponent reactions
Research area
Evaluation of New Hyperpolarisation Probes (MRI)
